Street design for Gillette and Genesee Streets in Houston’s Fourth Ward was developed through engagement with stakeholders that identified the importance of enhancing the pedestrian experience, improving access between Buffalo Bayou, and highlighting the area’s history. The final concept is a celebration of the past that serves as an amenity for the existing community. Greenways and linear parks provide access and open space preservation with expanded pedestrian and landscape zones that feature rain gardens, public seating, shade trees, lush planting and water features.
